We hold forays at regular intervals from the early autumn to late spring, mostly at weekends, but also during the week. We arrange a programme of evening indoor meetings on a variety of mycological topics during the winter-spring period, usually on the fourth Thursday of the month, with local and invited speakers. Occasionally, we arrange a social evening at a local venue.

Our forays are led by one member and we all contribute our expertise to identifying the fungi that we find, but we do not have enough expertise to cover all fungi. We are a sociable and friendly group and encourage beginners to attend. Our forays last about 2 hours, and are for members only, although we welcome visitors when pre-arranged and invited by a member. We cannot welcome casual members of the public or family groups, as they would not be covered by our public liability insurance policy. Most of our forays are to protected sites, so we discourage bringing dogs and the collecting of edible fungi. A list of finds is sent to each member and is also posted on the website.

Access The field events in our programme are all held on terrain which is not suitable for either wheelchairs or pushchairs.
