Dr. Darius Armstrong-James

Clinical senior Lecturer in Fungal Diseases

Research Focus

Macrophage immunobiology, aspergillosis, azole resistance

Scientific Activities

His Dr. Armstrong-James is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Fungal Diseases based at Imperial College London. His primary interest is macrophage dysfunction in pulmonary immunity to Aspergillus fumigatus, where he has investigated the link between fungal germination, endosomal sensing, and cell death responses. His lab adopts a multidisciplinary approach spanning molecular immunology, single cell imagings, animal models and clinical studies. His research is supported by the MRC, Wellcome Trust, NIHR and NERC. He has also recently re-developed my interest in fungal phylogenetics and adaptation to the host.
