This grant is available to support postgraduate students' attendance at BMS meetings, forays and field events.
Postgraduate student applicants must have been a BMS member for at least 6 months prior to application.
Grants are given as a discount on accommodation or registration costs for the nominated BMS meeting, foray or field event. Travel expenses are not covered. Only one grant will be awarded to an applicant in any one calendar year.
Applications should be made via the online form and must be received at least two months before the nominated meeting. In the application form, applicants are asked to explain how attending the meeting / event will benefit them. A note of support from the supervisor or Head of Department is also required.
All requests that match the criteria above will be funded.
Applications are assessed by BMS Council Members.
A short report on how the awarded grant was used is required. This report should be aimed at a general readership, helping to illustrate how the activity supports the Society’s mission of promoting fungal science.
Details of grants awarded will be highlighted on the BMS’s digital channels (website and social media) and in the BMS members’ newsletter.
Applicants will receive notification of the outcome of their application within two weeks, together with details of how to use the grant for the nominated meeting / event.
