Event Sponsorship Grant

Funds are available to support events that are not organised directly by the British Mycological Society, to enable the dissemination and sharing of knowledge and developments in any area of mycology.

Event Sponsorship Grants can be used for in-person or virtual meetings, conferences and events held in any country.

 

DEADLINES FOR APPLICATION: 31 May and 30 November

 

Eligibility

The applicant must be the main organiser or hold a position on the organising committee (or equivalent) for the event. Only one grant will be awarded to an applicant in any one calendar year.

What is covered by the grant?

Funds are given as sponsorship of the nominated event. The sponsorship could support many aspects of the event such as speaker costs (e.g. fees or travel), conference sessions, workshops, or networking activities.

Two levels of sponsorship are possible:

  • Maximum £1000 for smaller meetings with up to 100 delegates.
  • Maximum £2000 for larger meetings with over 100 delegates.

Applications should be made by completing the application form.  Completed forms must be received by the BMS at least three months before the date of the event.

Award criteria

Applications will be reviewed under the following criteria:

  • Quality and relevance of the event programme
  • Target audience
  •  Evidence of additional funds being sought from other sources
  • Evidence of ensuring diversity and inclusion across all aspects of the event
  • Opportunities or benefits for BMS members

​​​Assessment of applications

Applications are assessed by BMS Council Members.

Conditions of the award

Evidence of use of the funds must be provided within 3 months of the event date. Funds are subject to return if the applicant cannot produce suitable financial records.
