Further information

The Council is the governing body for the Society, ensuring compliance with the Constitution, developing the strategy, and ensuring resources are used effectively to deliver the Society's mission and objectives. The Council works closely with the Executive Officer and other staff of the BMS Office. All members of BMS Council are Trustees of the Society.

This vacancy offers an opportunity to get involved with the Society, to enable the Society to grow and thrive and achieve our mission of promoting fungal science internationally.  We are looking for someone willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our Council.  You do not need previous governance experience – we will fully support individuals who suit the role but who may have limited or no experience as a charity Trustee.

Council will consider all recommendations and circulate the list of nominated candidate(s) for the post by 30 September 2024.  Members may then submit any other nominations by 14 October.

Election of the Chair of the FBR Committee will take place at a Special General Meeting of the Society. The meeting will be held online (via Zoom) at time and date communicated to members in advance.
